Starting a car

*gg*

My still-husband just sent me the pic he took yesterday evening, when I was trying to get my car started, so I could take it to the shop.

I was using a hammer on the starter. ^____^

It worked.

Now the car's in the shop, and hopefully I can put the hammer back in the tool-box afterwards. ;)

You know, I think a starter IS one of those parts you can take a hammer to and have it work. At least for the interim. Sometimes it's just a loose connection that the hammer will have it connect. And, a starter is usually this solid chunk of steel that it's unlikely a few swipes of a hammer in a cramped space will cause too much damage. ;)

But, great mad mechanic skillz!

At first, I was really sceptical when the shop guy told me to just bang on the thing with a hammer. But then I took to it. *gg* I don't think it was harmed by my hammering - I tried to be gentle. :)

I am kind of warming up to this car - it may be old, but at least there are things in there that I can understand and don't need a computer to handle - like changing the light bulbs. Did it all on my very own! ;) Not like the Mercedes, where you had to take him into the shop and they had to crank him up on the hydraulic lifter and take off the tire, *just to change the lightbulb*! >.

Hey! If it works, it works. At least you could get it to the shop. Congrats. *g*

Indeed! ^__^

And getting it to the shop was the important part! ;)

Well, at least it's just a small one. Not like Joe Don Baker in "Goldeneye", when he bashes the motor of the VW Bug with a sledge hammer. ;)

Ha! I'll remember that for future reference.

*gg*

The guy in the shop told me that sometimes, the wires inside are a bit stuck and a slight tap with the hammer gets them unstuck. Seems to work! :)

Lol! When in doubt, abuse the equipment! *looks at my stories* Oh, the innuendo's, I can't even pick one. They're all so good.

Oh yes! That's what it's for, isn't it?

No?

Are you sure?

It's great! ^___^

Well, just start with your line from up there:

"When in doubt, abuse the equipment!" add my "That's what it's for, isn't it?" and go run with it!

*pokes your muse*

I don't *quite* think so... Laptops tend to be just a tiny bit more fragile than my starter... :) Unless your laptop is made of solid steel, then it probably won't matter... *gg*
