How to stuff an elefant into a handbag...

My poor little hatchlings aren't maturing... Please to be clicking... ;__;

Ok. We're almost done with packing. Problem is, on the Emirates flight from here to Sydney, she's allowed to have 30 kg/66 pounds. But on the flight from Sydney to *Perth*, only 20 kg/44 pounds! That's not quite a suitcase full of stuff... >.< For five months!

And she's really not taking anything that she *doesn't* need. I chose and packed together with her, and we were very picky. And we're still over the allowed amount. *sigh* I just hope everything goes well with her.

I'll be away all day tomorrow - driving to Frankfurt and back - but I will be back online when I get back.

*HUGS FList*

Responses to comments etc. when I'm back. :)

Hope everything went well! (Since you're probably there and back again by now!) *hugs hugs hugs*

*pfft*

Just got back. Around 11 hours roundtrip - by car. Though we did take a short break driving up, then we had a moment in Frankfurt, when we dropped her off. But the organizers chased the parents out and home *really* quickly. So it was... here we are, good bye, have a good trip!

And lots and lots of tears on both sides.

Then the whole trip back down.

Decided to just take a break somewhere in the middle, had some dinner, took a nice walk, then drove the rest of the way.

Now I'm ded. ^__^;

*hugs hugs hugs* Did you have anybody ride along for the trip back? I think that would have helped.
So... heard from her yet?

Still husband was along. It was ok. But... I needed chocolate and peanuts to help me get over the fact that she'll be gone *FIVE MONTHS* now... >.>

Not directly. She posted on Facebook this morning, on the stopover in Dubai. Was eating 'breakfast' - a hamburger at McD's... *gg*

She should be on her way to Bankok now... Short stopover there, then on to Sydney. Offically, there's no phone and no internet where she'll be staying for the three orientation days. So I won't hear what's going on until she arrives in Perth on Friday. Host family has already promised to let me know whether everything's ok. :)

Hmm, quite a problem. Maybe Cilli could wear layers of clothing and then not have to pack that stuff? :)

*hugs* Good luck.

I tried suggesting that - but we're having 100°F weather right now, and there's no *way* she was wearing more than just two layers... :)

We managed. I'm the master of Packing Fu! ^___^

Just got back - and at the same time her text message that they're now boarding the plane... ;__;

She's really on her way now... *SIGH*

We're having the same kind of weather, yike. *looks outside* Not going out there. Staying here, building a shrine to the air conditioner.

Aw, Raven. She'll be fine, she'll have so much fun, and if you need to vent your motherly affection, Cloud is always happy to be cuddled.

*ggg*

I *love* this weather. ^___^

By the way... we don't have an AC. *gg* It's not something that Germans own, on the whole. Mostly, because a) the weather isn't usually so hot that we need one and b) it uses *much* too much electricity (we're eco-conscious, you know... ^__^;).

Besides, this house is built in the old style, so it's really cool inside - provided you keep the doors and windows closed - even when it's *really* hot outside.

Well, this morning she was in Dubai, changing planes and, according to her entry on Facebook, eating a 'breakfast' hamburger in McD's. ^___^ So it sounds like she's doing fine. :)

*HUGS Cloud so hard that his ears are starting to turn red*

*siiiiiigggghhhhh*

A climate that doesn't require AC. *wistful sigh* We're in the midst of a record-temperature heatwave, it's been close to a hundred degrees for nearly a week.

Wow, Cilli is so grown up. I can't imagine traveling so far by myself.

Cloud: *giggle, kicks legs*

We rarely have weather that would *really* require an AC. For example, today it's cloudy and looking like it might rain, so the temperatures have already dropped again. All I have to do is open the window for a bit of fresh air, and everything is cool again... :)

Heatwave? Oooohhh... I remember those. When it got so hot that the tar started to melt and stuck to the bottom of my bare feet in New York. ^____^

Well, since she's been going to boarding school - traveling back and forth every weekend - she's grown a lot. And become very independent. At least they're not alone in this - they're a whole group that's going over. It *is* the first time she's traveled *this* far on her own, but I'm confident she will manage.

Actually, I got a text message from her this noon, letting me know that she's arrived safely and finds the orientation seminar boring. *ggg*

Still... I miss her...

*squeezes Cloud even harder*

*whispers: Thank the Gods he's so durable*

GAH, when I take over the world I'm making Bavaria my capital. I shall settle into one of Ludwig's pretty castles, and BWA HA, all your culture shall belong to meeeee! :)

Oh, she's in a group, good, lots of support, especially since this must be the farthest most of them have gone from home. LOL, sounds like she's ready to jump into another culture and start learning and having fun.

Cloud: *pats Raven's head* "Squeeze me more!" *giggles*

Thank you! Did you see? Three grew up! :):):)

*Very* cool! I'm glad to hear that. I guess I'll just have to study your writing, too, so that I can see what you're doing right. ^___^ And learn from you...

Did you ever see that guy's journal, the one that made one of his books available for pirates to copy and spread for download?

He mentioned that he posts his new Kindle Books in a forum, and supposedly it's enough to get sales going...

Would you be interested in a copy of his EBook "A Newbie's Guide to Publishing"? I think that information is in there, too. I could mail it to you?
