I can't imagine how *teachers* - people who are supposed to protect and guide young people towards their future - even manage to *think* of something like making this girl keep quiet and cheer for her rapist! *shudders*

Does it say anywhere that they are actually seeking legal fees, or just that they can? If they aren't, then I think the focus should be on their attempt to hide everything and sweep it under the rug. Keeping the boy on the team after he was prosecuted also sends the wrong signal.

I saw another article that said that currently there's a case pending where it would be decided whether the family would have to pay the school's legal fees or not.

What really bothers me is the fact that the school tried to cover everything up. There seems to be no awareness of what it means to be raped, or what it might mean for another woman in the future, if this boy has gotten away with rape the first time.

*sigh*

Tends to make me very, very angry, something like this...
