I'm back! :)

Yes, well...

To be honest, I didn't want to leave Italy. I was feeling so relaxed and easy, the weather was so perfect and warm, the food great, the view entertaining etc., that I just felt like staying there forever. I could cheerfully have added another four weeks to my time down there. Even though I had no internet, I really didn't mind.

But, alas, work and responsibilities called... >.<

I spent most of the time in the house there, taking only one trip down to Taranto, to meet the lovely laurazel and her family. That ended in me bringing home a little souvenir...

Souvenir from Taranto Souvenir from Taranto
This was my first meeting with Oskar. He didn't look very happy at first. But we got along famously very quickly.
Cat and child Cat and child
True love. :)

Yes, well. That's Oskar. Our other three cats aren't exactly thrilled with this new addition to the household, but Oskar's adjusting just fine. He destroyed my dried roses, gnawed on several ropes, has already decided that he prefers the others' litter box to his own, and finds sleeping *under* beds much more interesting than *on* them. ^___^

The stay at laurazel's house was lovely! She has such a wonderfully understanding husband, and her in-laws plied me with so much food and home-made wine, I almost couldn't move by the time we drove home.

I'll put up some more pics in the next few days. Now it's back to the old grind... ;__;

Glad you liked the card. ^___^ I'm sooo tempted to just book the next flight down and stay forever... *sigh* But my mother says that winters aren't as pleasant - cool, stormy and damp. So I'll just have to wait until next year. :)

I'm sure you'll get to go one day!

Oskar has certainly managed to find his place here in the house *very* quickly. Currently, he's 'cleaning' under all my cabinets and wardrobes. ;) He looks more like a dustball than a cat.

Gerne doch! :) Du hättest sicher Deine Freude an all den tollen Blumen und Pflanzen, an den Gekkos und den Eidechsen und was es sonst noch so gibt (ausser natürlich all das alte römische und griechische Zeugs, was hier überall rumliegt... *lach*) gehabt. :)

Indeed. Even if it's gnawing at my computer cables just now. *goes to chase black monster out of the office*

I got your postcard yesterday! So pretty! lol Dad was all like "who the hell do you know in Italy?"

"Some crazy German lady on holiday."

Anyway, yes...postcard. Thank you so much! It is now hanging out on our fridge with all the other exotic postcards I've received through lj mates!

Yupp, crazy lady, that's me. ^^

Glad you liked! :) I love getting cards, myself. Even in today's age of emails and text messages. :)

Wow... most people take home a t-shirt or something! ^o^ And I hate to tell you, but that's not so much a child as a young lady, and a lovely one. No wonder you are such a proud Mama. ^______^ Kitty is adorable!
And thank you for the post card! *hugs*

How true. We *did* bring home other stuff, too, but the biggest was Oskar. ^____^

Cilli had a blast, helping me smuggle him into the hotel where we had our layover on the drive up.

And yes, she's growing up. *Le Sigh* I was watching her walk next to me yesterday and she's grown again. I wish I could just put her into stasis and keep adoring her every day. But, alas, kids will grow up.

My pleasure. :)

Oh, I wanted to ask you something: how did you get the GW designs that Silke made for you onto the fabric for the quilt?
Sep. 7th, 2009 03:29 am (UTC)
With my handy-dandy ink jet printer! There are several companies who make fabric in letter sized sheets that are paper-backed and will run right through your printer. ^____^
I used this stuff :
I really liked the way it held the color, and it was easy to work with, but I do have to admit it's a bit stiff. There was another brand that had a softer 'hand' to the fabric, but the colors didn't print as bright and I couldn't for the life of me get the stupid paper to peel off the back! I'm sure it was something I was doing wrong, but I got frustrated with it and just kept using the Taylor.

Way cool! I've never seen that here! I don't think even the quilting shop in the next town over has ever heard of that! I'm going to go look for these! I really want to get back to doing creative stuff, so I'm currently gathering ideas... :)

Well, if you can't find it, or the shop can't get it for you, let me know and I'm sure we could work something out. ^_____^

Wonderful kitty - that's my idea of a souvenier too!

It sounds like you are a lot more relaxed, so maybe the vacation did its job.

Welcome back.

I love souvenirs like that. ^___^

Well, yes. I did manage to relax quite a bit. But already work and stuff is getting to me again. *sigh* That's the dangers of being self-employed.

What an adorable kitty! I'm glad you had a wonderful and relaxing time!

Thank you. He's already adjusted to his new home quite well. Yes, it was very relaxing. Best vacation I've had in a long while. :)
