Starting a car

*gg*

My still-husband just sent me the pic he took yesterday evening, when I was trying to get my car started, so I could take it to the shop.

I was using a hammer on the starter. ^____^

It worked.

Now the car's in the shop, and hopefully I can put the hammer back in the tool-box afterwards. ;)

You know, I think a starter IS one of those parts you can take a hammer to and have it work. At least for the interim. Sometimes it's just a loose connection that the hammer will have it connect. And, a starter is usually this solid chunk of steel that it's unlikely a few swipes of a hammer in a cramped space will cause too much damage. ;)

But, great mad mechanic skillz!

At first, I was really sceptical when the shop guy told me to just bang on the thing with a hammer. But then I took to it. *gg* I don't think it was harmed by my hammering - I tried to be gentle. :)

I am kind of warming up to this car - it may be old, but at least there are things in there that I can understand and don't need a computer to handle - like changing the light bulbs. Did it all on my very own! ;) Not like the Mercedes, where you had to take him into the shop and they had to crank him up on the hydraulic lifter and take off the tire, *just to change the lightbulb*! >.
