Perth it is...

Adopt one today!

We finally got the feedback from the High School Program organization ... Cilli is going to be in Perth! :) In Cottesloe, Perth, to be exact. We've already googled it and looked at it on the map - even seen the house on Google View. Very cool. Not too far from the beach, just like she wanted.

And her best friend - who is also going to Australia - is also going to be in Perth.

I'm not so sure whether that is a good thing, because I'm worried that they will end up spending too much time talking German together, but maybe it's far enough apart so that they can't see each other too often. And Cilli's host family has three kids (13, 17 and 18 years old), so I'm sure they'll be happy to include Cilli in *their* teenage activities and claim so much of her time, that she won't have a chance to go off and be 'German' too often. ^___^

We'll be getting in touch with the host family this weekend by mail, and maybe by phone... I'm looking forward to seeing Cilli's reaction. :)

Poor kid - she's going to have to clean up her room this weekend! I'm not going to look at that mess for five months! >.> *And* my mother's Au Pair is going to stay with me for a few weeks, and Cilli's room will be free, so I'm putting her in there.

My daughter is not going to like this... *gg*

Indeed! It's going to be so strange not to see her for five months... >.>

Oh, my parents always go down to Italy earlier than I do. And the Au Pair will be going down with me, because my folks don't have enough space in the car. We always take *tons* of stuff with us, because the house has to be renovated, refurbished, needs new whatevers, has to be repainted etc. I have a bigger car. :)

I did. Forgive me for not answering yet. I haven't had time to take a proper look at what you sent me, yet. I need some uninterrupted writing time to go over that - and that I haven't had in a while.

I'm sure she'll have a brilliant time, and come back all tan and using slang you won't understand. :)

Especially the tan part! She tans so easily. After our Italy vacation she always looks like she's been dipped in chocolate.

And yes, the slang's something I'm a bit worried about... >.>

German mixed with Australian slang will be AWESOME. Anyway, she's a teenager, right? So you're not supposed to understand her. :)

I have to stay clear of Australia, I burn way too easily.

Ye Gods! No one will understand her! *gg*

So true, so true... I already have my problems, even though I'm pretty much on top of the current language...

Mmm... I keep telling her that even though she tans *really* well, she has to be careful down there.

Me, I don't do sun very well. I tend to look like a cooked lobster within minutes. Which is why I spend my Italy vacation on the terrasse, under the bamboo shade. :)

Perth is a beautiful city, and I've been there a few times. I am jealous! She is going to have a fucking ball!

I never made it to Down Under, but my still-husband was there several times and he also liked it.

Beautiful? Oh good! Then she won't be bored because there's nothing to see. :)

I wish I had the money to go visit, but... oh well... she'll just have to tell me all about it. :)

You should set her up a blog somewhere and make her post at least a little something every day! Pictures and just little updates about what she is doing. She'll cherish it later on down the line.

She's on Facebook. Says that should be enough... I'm trying to convince her to try LJ - but she's one of those social networking kids, you know...

Oh yeah... nothing is quite like Facebook. Or so I've been told. :D

Quite true. Nothing is quite like Facebook. The problem is, it's just an expanded version of Twitter - everyone just writes short sentences, snippets, and adds mostly wierd photos to go with it. That's not blogging.

We'll see whether I can't convince her to give blogspot a try, after all.

Right now she's out of sorts with me. I have dared to say no to sending her money for her going-away party. But she gets a generous allowance from my mother for every month, and her mobile phone bill was double what it should have been, so... no money.

She is not happy with her mother right now. ^___^;

They never are when the answer is 'no'. *snort*
Jun. 27th, 2010 05:46 pm (UTC)
Definitely not. She ended up having to borrow money from her friends to pay for the party... Oh well... 'poor' kid.

*evil snicker*
