It was too good to last...

Remember my computer?

Wednesday night, in the middle of my typing away at a story, the computer died. With a *bang* and a flash and a power-outage in half the house.

So back it went into the shop yesterday morning. Haven't heard from them yet. They said it might be Saturday before the computer gets done...

Right now I'm using my daughter's computer, since *she* has my laptop over in Australia. Unfortunately, her computer is *very* slow - it only has 512 MB RAM and it takes *forever* to load anything.

So until I have my beloved computer back, I'm only going to be reading, not posting or commenting much.

*le sigh*

Nah... here they just try to sell you more than you might need. ;) Actually, the repair shop that I go to is quite reliable. And they would *never* get the idea of snooping into my files and then passing it on to someone. They're a franchise, so if something like that would get out, they'd be done for. We do have laws that protect your privacy, even that of your data, here. And most of them *are* strictly enforced, thank the Gods!

Yeah, I've been reading about your dentist odyssey. *HUGS* I'm sorry you have to go through that! The only thing I can offer is a virtual *HUG*, and the reassurance that it will all work out, somehow. At least, I like to think so. :)

Oh, it got there? Good! I'm glad it managed to cheer you up a bit. ^______^

*hugs* That totally sucks. At least you have one to use in the meantime even if it is slow - none would be worse.

computer shops are always so slow - here if you take them in you know you've lost it for a week even if it's not a major thing. Drives me crazy.

I'm really glad I thought of my daughter's, or I would have been clawing up the walls in frustration. Especially since I was - as always - right in the middle of things when it blew. >.< And I don't have a mail backup on my external drive, so there's a lot of stuff that's not getting done.

*gnaws on desk*

I already pushed the guy into saying Saturday. If I don't hear from him by noon tomorrow, he's getting a nasty whiny call from me. Though... if they need parts and don't have them, there's not much I can do about it... *sigh*

They *do* try to be fast here, because they know how much people rely on their computers for work...

Are you sure it's worth fixing at this point? O_o Might be time to start thinking about a new one. *pokes it with a stick* "Bang" makes me nervous...

Oh! I'm so lame! I stopped at the post office last night and got my card! *hugs you to pieces* It reminded me that I never said thank you for my Italy post card! So thank you, thank you!
I DID have a decent day! ^________^

No, I don't think so. Because usually, it's only small things. Like the power source. I've actually had to replace that before. The only thing that always worries me is that an abrupt outage like this one might damage other parts of the computer, like the mainboard.

But the rest of the computer is ok, so it wouldn't make sense to completely replace it.

But yes, 'bang' makes me nervous, too. ^^

Oh, I'm glad to hear it arrived! My pleasure, dear! Definitely my pleasure! :) Good to hear that you had an at least decent day. ^____^ *HUGHUG*
