Batteries are dead. So she can't take it with her when she takes Janice to summer school and then has to wait around for her. So I found a refurbished one on Amazon and, with the help of the Flist, got enough donations to buy it for her.

Well, I'm looking at an extra battery right now, just in case there are a few more donations. :)

It happened really fast! Kracken was talking about all that dead time that she would end up having while waiting for her daughter, who would be in summer school. So I asked her what about the laptop. And she answered that the batteries were dead, and you couldn't get new ones for it anymore, 'cause it was so old. So I figured that Amazon would have something reasonable. And then I saw the Dell, saw the price, and the idea of a quick donation drive just popped into my head. And within, I'd say, two hours, we had the whole deal done. :)
