Not beta-read. It came to me about two weeks ago, as I was trying to go to sleep. I thought it fit quite well with your recent post. ^^
When Duo was very young, he had no access to books, other than the sad, much-used, almost faded volumes of hymns and childrens' books at the orphanage. Even G did not encourage his young charge to read, beyond the needs of Gundam training. Which, in and of itself contained many volumes of diverse information. But nothing to broaden horizons and open different worlds to the mind.
It is only now, as a grown man, that Duo can indulge in a love that, once discovered, never let him go. Already, most rooms in his modest townhouse are filled to the ceiling with shelves and shelves of books. Duo reads them all. The poems, the plays, the stories - fantasy, contemporary, history, science, math, even romance. The subject does not matter. He finds small nuggets of wisdom in each and every volume - be it cheap paperback or heavy-bound antiquity.
But only recently has he been able to share this love.
Returning after years of absence, Heero Yuy has found his way into Duo's library sanctuary. First, as a visitor, then as roommate, finally as friend and partner - life and love. Content within the stacks of books , the two men share companionable silences, heated discussions, passages read aloud for their comic relief and new ideas for their own development.
But when they retire to their spacious and comforting bedroom together, experiences of paper are pushed aside in favour of the deep pleasure they find in the pages of each other's bodies.
