I think I raised my kid right... ;)

We made caramel candies today. Or rather, at the moment we're at the 'waiting for the caramel to harden so we can cut it up' stage. Cilli keeps walking downstairs into the kitchen to check on it. Her last words, just as she walked out of my office a minute ago were: "That caramel is *all* for us! We're not giving *any* of that away! I'm going to go hide it!"

She sure knows where her priorities are... ^____^

You absolutely raised her right! Good for you!!

Hey, have you had any ideas of what sort of fic you'd like for your Christmas present? Not that I'm trying to rush you, I'm just writing whenever I can find time lately and don't want it to get pushed aside.

Just recently, my neighbor asked whether I was feeding her right - she's very slim (but then, Cilli's only 14...) - and then I was watching my daughter eat... no worries there. She *loves* food - just like her mother! ^^

You know, I'd just opened up the Secret Santa journal entry to try and put together all my fic thoughts in a comment... ^^;

Give me a moment, and I'll send you a list. ;)

Oh, like I said, no hurry. Just trying to get my head together. I've been working on a 'fic from hell' that appears to be growing exponentially. Sadly I've only written about 25,000 words and it's not enough to make me feel accomplished *sigh* I'm just trying to figure out where else my multi tasking skills need to go :P

Oh oh... sounds like an epic in the making! GW?

Of course it's GW ^_~ It's actually something I started a year ago when natea21 did a writing contest for gundam_herald. It was for word count only, so I only posted it in my journal and didn't get much done. I started it up again and have been rewriting and plotting. It's been fun, although with Christmas my free time has been limited *sigh*

Ok. To feed the bunny, here's a few thoughts on what I like and don't like in GW stories:

I'm a true 1x2/2x1 shipper. It's my OTP and likely to stay that for as long as I read/watch GW. I don't mind all sorts of other combinations, but that one has to be central. I'm not particular about which character has more 'story-time' - Heero or Duo (though I do tend to lean towards Duo).
I absolutely adore fics set in later years, preferably in a Preventer setting, with the guys at least 20 or so. There should be: angst (lots of it), tension, mission stuff, action. I'd love to read a story where Heero and Duo are pitted against each other - the kind where you *think* they actually hate each other, try to kill each other, fight against each other - maybe break up really messily before the mission, for example - and in the end it turns out completely different. Maybe you've read (or seen) the kind of scenes that give you that really strange sinking feeling in your belly? Sort of like Quatre with his space-heart - you think it's all going to hell, and your head is just saying 'oh Gods, oh Gods, please no!'...

I love the guys being tough and manly (no Duo hip-swishing or simpering/whimpering/whining/bouncing etc. Duo), but not inhuman (no Perfect Soldier! emotionless Heero). I want them to have lives, with hobbies and friends and pets (maybe... ^^), but still keeping that edge that made them Gundam Pilots - and now Preventers.

I *hate* m-preg, waif!abused!whore!Duo (unless the story really manages to tell my *why* he's turned into that), and all the other really bad purple-prose fanon-cliches.

I *love* hot lemons! ^^ And yes, there may be kink (especially of the bondage kind)... *drool*

And don't cut off Duo's braid.

Oh, and yes, I want a happy ending. ^^

Anything else the bunny needs?

Was macht mein noch-Ehemann? Frisst sie alle alleine auf. >.

Homemade caramels! Yum!

A friend of mine years back brought me some for Xmas and I asked her for the recipe. Her mother had made the ones she brought me. WouldYouBelieve, that she told me her mother would not even give her the recipe???!!!

I just find it funny to think back on now, in this season, when so much is passed on to other generations. At least we know your kid isn't deprived of the basic facts of life/love.

Your gift story sounds like something I'll be watching out for too.

Happy Almost New Year.

The problem with not passing recipes on is, that when the person who knew how to make the stuff passes on, there's no one left who can re-create the recipe. I'm glad that my grandmother kept most of her recipes in her cook-books (little notes and clippings stuck all over the place) so that, with a little bit of experimentation, I can re-create most of her baking recipes. :) And since my daughter loves to watch me bake/cook, and also loves to help, she's learning as she goes along. :)

I'm very much looking forward to the story. ^^

Happy Almost New Year to you, too. :) I'm sure the new one will be absolutely fabulous for everyone. *is the eternal optimist*

It actually is 2009! Two plus Nine = 11. Or Two Ones.
How can it not be a great year?

I can't believe in people not sharing recipes, let alone with their own family. But, my college roommate once told me, that when people were asked to contribute to a local church cookbook, they deliberately left something out of the recipe. They wanted to be the only ones who could make the dish. I found it very sad that years later my co-worker told me that her own mother had the same mentality.

Home made caramels? Wow... you guys are serious about your candy! ^o^

What could be better?

I also make marmelade and jams sometimes. When I have the stuff and the mood moves me. That reminds me, I have to keep a look out for cranberries. I just might get tempted into making that orange-cranberry-marmelade again - that tastes absolutely incredible together with baked apples. ^^

No wonder I don't loose any weight. *gg*

Wow, can you share some of your recipes? I've never tried canning, just some simple stir and shake recipes.

Hm... I'll have to try and convert them. Or just post the original recipe and leave it up to you to convert them to American measures?
